Take an architectural heritage, and give it to a bunch of brave thinkers and innovators.

New Dipoli Project
New Dipoli project aims to transform an iconic building in the heart of Otaniemi campus of Aalto University into an central spot where people come to work, find inspiration for their projects or just relax. The project builds on a rich architectural heritage of the building expanding it into the contemporary context of multifunctional use and diversity of stakeholders' interests.
Dipoli is not a traditional campus building in may ways: it was created with the students' own funds and its design was a result of an open architectural competition won by Reima and Raili Pietilä with their entry "Wedding March of the Caveman" in 1965. The building was envisioned as an architectural experiment and kept its bold character during past fifty years.
Our team is working on the particular part of the building: its lobby and the three entrances, and aims at creating a unique experience of Dipoli as an environment that embodies the values of Aalto University and inspires its visitors. The project is a collaboration of several parters, including ACRE (Aalto University Campus and Real Estate) and ALA Architects.
